About BirchRx

BirchRx (also written Birch Rx, and often searched as BirchRx Canada) is a Canadian telehealth platform for generic semaglutide, operated by Vitalis Holdings Group Inc. from Vancouver, B.C. It connects you with a licensed Canadian physician for an online assessment and, if you are eligible, a prescription. BirchRx describes itself as a technology platform, not a healthcare provider: it is not a pharmacy and not itself the prescriber. The physician you are matched with prescribes, and a licensed Canadian pharmacy dispenses.

Most platforms we cover across weight loss, ED, hair loss and more run several treatment lines. BirchRx does not. Beyond a separate men's health line, its weight loss program is single-product, generic semaglutide only, and that narrow focus shows up in how simple its pricing is.

The pricing model is the headline. Month one, at the starting dose, is $149. After that, the ongoing care plan starts at $199 per month. Both figures are all-in: the assessment, clinician review, prescription, medication, shipping and ongoing follow-up are bundled into one price. There is no separate consultation fee and no separate membership fee.

Coverage is the main limit. BirchRx is confirmed in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta only. It confirms your province during the assessment and says it will notify patients as it expands, so do not assume it serves the rest of the country yet.

Eligibility for the Birch weight loss program follows the standard Canadian criteria for chronic weight management: a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 to 29.9 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol or sleep apnea. The reviewing physician makes the final call on your full medical history, and meeting a BMI threshold is not an automatic approval.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • ✓Free online physician assessment before you pay anything
  • ✓One bundled monthly price covering assessment, prescription, medication, shipping and follow-up
  • ✓No separate consultation fee and no monthly membership or platform fee
  • ✓Month one from $149, one of the lowest starting prices for generic semaglutide in Canada
  • ✓Any dose-driven price change is confirmed with you before it applies
  • ✓No video call needed, and a physician reviews your assessment within 24 to 48 hours
  • ✓You pay nothing if the physician decides treatment is not appropriate

Cons

  • ✗Generic semaglutide only, so there is no brand-name Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound
  • ✗Confirmed in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta only; not yet a national platform
  • ✗No tirzepatide, so there is no path to a dual-agonist program here
  • ✗A newer entrant without the multi-year public track record of longer-established Canadian clinics

How It Works

  1. 1.
    Start the free online assessment

You answer questions about your health, weight history and goals. It takes about 10 minutes, needs no video call, costs nothing, and confirms your province.

  2. 2.
A licensed Canadian physician reviews it

A licensed physician reviews your assessment within 24 to 48 hours and decides whether generic semaglutide is appropriate. Approval is always the clinician's independent decision, and if you are not approved you pay nothing.

  3. 3.
Start month one at the starting dose

If you are prescribed, month one is $149 all-in. A licensed Canadian pharmacy dispenses the medication and ships it in plain packaging, usually within 2 to 5 business days.

  4. 4.
Move to the ongoing care plan

From month two, the care plan starts at $199 per month, still all-in, with regular physician check-ins included and refills handled automatically while you remain a good candidate.

  5. 5.
Adjust the dose with your clinician

Semaglutide is titrated upward over time. If a dose change affects your price, BirchRx confirms the new figure with you before it applies.

Who It's For

A good fit if…

  • • You live in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta
  • • You want generic semaglutide and do not need a brand-name pen
  • • You want one all-in monthly price with no consult or membership fee on top
  • • You want to find out whether you qualify before paying anything

Look elsewhere if…

  • • You specifically want brand-name Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro→ Felix offers brand-name weight loss medication programs with a $0 initial consultation.
  • • You live outside Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta
  • • You want a provider with a longer public track record

Also Consider: Felix

BirchRx and Felix solve different problems. If you want a brand-name medication rather than the generic, or you live in a province BirchRx has not confirmed yet, Felix is the provider we would look at next. It is a separate company with its own assessment and pricing, and it serves every province except Quebec.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BirchRx legit?+
BirchRx is a Canadian telehealth platform that connects patients with licensed Canadian physicians for an online assessment and prescription. It is newer than some of the established clinics we review, so it has a shorter public track record, but its pricing and province coverage are published plainly.
Is Birch Rx the same as BirchRx?+
Yes. Birch Rx, BirchRx and BirchRx Canada all refer to the same Canadian platform at birchrx.ca, and its weight management program is what most people mean by Birch weight loss. The brand is written as one word, BirchRx.
How much does BirchRx cost per month?+
Month one, at the starting dose, is $149. The ongoing care plan starts at $199 per month. Both are all-in: assessment, clinician review, prescription, medication, shipping and follow-up are bundled, with no separate consultation or membership fee. If your dose changes the price, BirchRx confirms it with you first.
What does BirchRx prescribe?+
Generic semaglutide only. That is the same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy. BirchRx does not offer brand-name pens, tirzepatide (Mounjaro or Zepbound) or any compounded GLP-1, which Health Canada does not permit.
What happens if BirchRx does not approve me?+
You pay nothing. The assessment is free and there is no consultation fee, so if the reviewing physician decides treatment is not appropriate for you, nothing is charged.
Who is eligible for the Birch weight loss program?+
Adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 to 29.9 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol or sleep apnea. The reviewing physician decides based on your full clinical assessment, and some patients will not be suitable candidates.
How long does BirchRx Canada take to deliver?+
The assessment takes about 10 minutes, a physician reviews it within 24 to 48 hours, and most patients receive their medication within 2 to 5 business days of approval, shipped in plain packaging from a licensed Canadian pharmacy.
Which provinces does BirchRx serve?+
Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta are confirmed. BirchRx does not currently claim Quebec or nationwide coverage. Your province is confirmed during the online assessment.
Is BirchRx a pharmacy?+
No. BirchRx is a telehealth platform. It connects you with a licensed Canadian physician who assesses you and, if appropriate, prescribes. Medication and shipping are included in the monthly plan.
BirchRx or Felix: which should I choose?+
They suit different readers. BirchRx is generic semaglutide only, at one bundled price, in three provinces. Felix offers brand-name weight loss medication programs (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) with a $0 initial consultation, in every province except Quebec. If you want the generic at the simplest price, start with BirchRx; if you want a brand-name option, start with Felix.

Which providers do you recommend in Canada?

Recommended Providers

Our editorial team’s top picks for this category.

Editorial Verdict

Across the weight loss programs we track, BirchRx has the most transparent pricing structure: a free assessment, then one bundled figure with no consult or membership fee added on. That is worth a lot to readers tired of reconciling three separate charges.

The trade-offs are range and reach. There is no brand-name pen, no tirzepatide, and coverage is confirmed in only three provinces. It is also a newer platform, so it lacks the long public record of the established clinics.

Our position: if you are in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta and want generic semaglutide, BirchRx belongs on your shortlist, and the free assessment means it costs nothing to check. If you want a brand-name medication, or you live elsewhere, compare Felix first.

Prescription notice

GLP-1 medications, finasteride, NAD+ injections and the other treatments compared on this site are prescription-only in Canada. A prescription is issued only when a clinician licensed in your province determines it is clinically appropriate for you. Approval is never guaranteed.

Provider independence

Healthcare services are provided by independent third-party telehealth providers. All clinical and prescribing decisions are made solely by each provider's licensed clinicians, not by ExploreTreatments Canada.
